Be a student leader

ECHO Entrepreneurship

Are you a high school student who is interested in leadership? Are you wanting to develop yourself professionally? Are you curious about financial literacy and potentially being a business owner one day? Are you a person who wants to make your city a better place? Are you concerned about the environment? If so, this program is for you.

Our ECHO-entrepreneurship provides 16 weeks of after school educational programing to 20 students in each grade for all three years. We want to retain our students each year to garner the greatest value from the program. We offer two cohorts per year and will launch in 2022.

If you are interested in learning more, please fill out this EE inquiry form and we will follow up with you in the near future.

Here’s what our Student leadership program looks like:

10th graders: EE crash course 101

Two month Urban Infrastructure Intensive (UII)-

Students will take field trips and be educated on important topics such as green stormwater infrastructure, urban agriculture, water treatment, waste management, composting, recycling and cradle-to-cradle concepts. The keystone of this session is to provide a deeper understanding of regenerative models in contrast to the linear models that result in environmental injustice for marginalized communities.

Two months of professional development and EE training

Students will learn the basics of financial literacy, professionalism, entrepreneurship, and be trained in our software management program that they will work with the following year.

Four weeks of senior passion project planning

Senior students will assist Juniors in launching their own passion projects. They will learn how to write mission and vision statements and how to generate logic models and value propositions. They will learn about entry into the world of entrepreneurship.

12th graders: Passion Project & EE training mentor program

Two weeks of EE refresher mentoring

Seniors act as mentors to 11th graders in the program.

Two weeks of field mentoring

Seniors act as mentors in the field and assist in initial site visits with business owners and the 11th-grade corridor consultant.

Four weeks of business plan writing course and intro to a strategic planning program.

Seniors will work to develop their own passion project by learning the framework for writing a business plan. This empowers students to think of themselves as leaders and change-makers in their communities.

Eight weeks of guided delivery on a unique passion project

We provide support to students in rolling out their projects. We leverage our membership to provide small seed funds for these projects. Selected students will be granted seed funding.
